It wasn’t but about 150 years ago that it was common to hear a sermon on choosing representatives, fulfilling your Christian citizenship responsibilities, etc., through what was commonly called an election sermon. (Not the doctrine of election, but the doctrine of stewardship!) You will enjoy this short video of Dr. David Barton sharing the truth about our American heritage and our current duty:
