HEALTH CARE PUBLIC OPTION IS “BAIT & SWITCH”

The differing philosophies behind the health care debate are coming into sharper focus. One side wants greater government control over everything and the other side wants less. I want less. Less is still too much. Why? Because everything the government gets its claws into never gets released! It has and will always be a monopolizing entity. “Competing” in the health care marketplace with a public option is like an NFL team entering the AYF and challenging the PeeWees! There is no competition–how can it be when the government makes all the rules, buys the officials, and controls the clock!!! This is not just monopoly–it is tyranny. The health care sector will be sucked into the vortex of another huge government bureaucracy. Look at our history: Social Security and Medicare were originally touted as catastrophic, supplemental protection–a social safety net. Look where they are now! (And this encroachment will soon be bankrupt thanks to an incompetent legislature!)

It is attributed to Benjamin Franklin the saying, “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” What does America deserve? Liberalism, statism, and socialism are all from the same root whether it is accomplished incrementally or en masse. All legislation, not just health care, will move us either towards liberty or tyranny.

We don’t want calculators deciding health care matters. Health care should be left between a patient and his doctor. It should stay in the private sector, and, if you ask me, it should come back into the individual marketplace and be taken out of the corporate benefits realm. Essential individual liberties are being sacrificed in the name of the collective. Socialism is advancing. America needs to wake up and come back to her roots. If we fall for this eventual “bait and switch” option, then I fear that dark days are just ahead for this once God-blessed republic.

1 Peter 2:17 – “Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.”
